Understanding Indigenous Histories, A History Not Taught

This WebExperience will introduce the impact of colonization on Indigenous peoples, cultures and histories. Participants will learn how callous legislative practices have limited Indigenous peoples from sovereignty in a remarkably short timeframe. The session will also highlight original agreements such as; Dish With One Spoon and Two Row Wampum, in an effort to understand and appreciate Indigenous philosophies and cultural beliefs.

This WebExperience delves deeper into the historical legislative practices presented in WebExperience: Understanding Indigenous Histories, A History Not Taught, seeking to solidify a deeper understanding of a few key aspects of colonization that have negatively affected Indigenous peoples. The session also seeks to unearth how modern day legislation shapes both Indigenous and non-indigenous people and presents Indigenous teachings as viable practices and philosophies that can guide the work of current and future generations.
