Tentative Agreement Reached in Thunder Bay

We are pleased to report that the Thunder Bay Elementary Unit has reached a tentative agreement with the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board on local terms for the 2014-17 collective agreement.

“Teachers in Thunder Bay should be proud of how they have taken a firm stand on an issue of principle,” says Ann Hawkins, OECTA President. “They have shown impressive resolve, while always demonstrating a willingness to work toward a fair agreement. Thank you to the bargaining team for your incredible efforts, and to Catholic teachers across Ontario for your support and encouragement.”

Members of the unit will participate in a ratification vote on Thursday, February 16.

There are now three bargaining units still negotiating local terms for the 2014-17 agreement. Bargaining for Thunder Bay’s occasional teachers will begin in the near future. The Association also continues to make every effort to reach agreements on local terms for the Niagara Elementary and Niagara Occasional bargaining units.
