OECTA is seeking a highly experienced teacher to develop this course in accordance with the current Ontario College of Teachers Schedule D Course Guideline. The individual must have great deal of expertise in First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Studies. Generally course writers have a specialist/Masters qualifications or equivalency, currently instructing in the field, and possess experience teaching adult learners. Other related experiences would also be valued.
As an instructor you have responsibility for creating a course that reflects 125 hours of instruction and assignments. Generally, it will be would be delivered and written for an online format, though it could be delivered in a variety of formats. A template for course development will be provided and assistance provided in the development of this course. Ongoing support is provided throughout the development process. The course must reflect Ministry directions and documents, current education research in this field, instructional pedagogy, etc.
Developer selection is based on the following criteria:
- Professional qualifications
- Personal and/or professional expertise with First Nation, Metis and Inuit Studies
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design and implementation
- Sound understanding of the principles of professional learning
