President Liz Stuart responds to latest government announcement on revisions to the HPE curriculum and government consultations with parents
Liz Stuart, President of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association
"Catholic teachers welcome the role of parents in children’s learning. We strive to build positive and productive relationships with the parents of the students we teach as part of our professional practice, which includes regular and meaningful communication. With regard to the curriculum, assessment, and other pedagogical issues, we recognize that the government wants to hear more from parents, but we hope that the perspectives of professional educators and subject matter experts will also be given proper consideration. In the meantime, we will continue to deliver the provided curriculum and attend to our students’ needs in accordance with our professional training and judgment."
