President Liz Stuart Discusses Settlement with the Government on Delayed Grid Movement

Recently, there have been several media reports that discuss OECTA’s settlement with the provincial government on the issue of delayed grid movement, stemming from the 2014-15 school year. Unfortunately, these reports contain some inaccurate and misleading information.

On Thursday, April 12, President Liz Stuart was given the opportunity to present the facts and correct the record. Appearing live on 570 News Kitchener, President Stuart spoke with host Mike Farwell, outlining the series of events that resulted in the settlement with the government. President Stuart discussed the original basis for the grievances that OECTA launched in 2014, as well as OECTA’s refusal to comply with the government’s request to drop those grievances, during the 2014-17 round of collective bargaining, and the successful outcome for OECTA members.
