1Registration, Eligibility & Course Selection
How do I register for AQ courses?
Browse the course catalogue above and choose your course and session. When registration is open, select View course and register to complete registration and payment online.
Can I take more than one AQ course at a time?
Yes. You may register for more than one course in a session, provided you can manage the workload and meet each course's requirements.
Can I take an AQ while completing my Bachelor of Education?
Eligibility depends on your certification status. Contact the Professional Development department to confirm whether you qualify before registering.
What are the entry requirements for Religious Education, Specialist, and Part 2 courses?
Part 2 and Specialist courses require the preceding part as a prerequisite and may carry additional requirements. Specific requirements are listed on each course's dedicated page.
What is the difference between an AQ and an ABQ?
An Additional Qualification (AQ) adds an area of study to your certificate, while an Additional Basic Qualification (ABQ) adds a teaching division. Contact the department to confirm which you need.
How is my teaching experience recognized, and what equivalencies apply?
Some courses recognize prior experience or equivalent qualifications toward prerequisites. Contact the department to have your background assessed.
2Fees, Payments & Financial Documents
What is the fee?
Fees vary by session. See the Registration fees section above for the current early bird and regular rates.
How do I pay?
Payment is made online by credit card during registration. Visa Debit cards are not accepted.
What is your policy on refunds, receipts, and T2202 forms?
Refund eligibility depends on the withdrawal date. Payment receipts are issued at registration, and T2202 tax forms are made available after the course. Contact the department for details.
How do I get a reimbursement receipt?
A receipt suitable for employer reimbursement is issued after payment. Contact the department if you need it reissued.
3Course Administration & Policies
How do I withdraw from a course?
Submit a withdrawal request to the department. Refund eligibility depends on how close the request is to the course start date.
Can I transfer between courses?
Transfers may be possible before a course begins, subject to availability. Contact the department to request a transfer.
What is the attendance policy?
You are expected to complete the online coursework and attend two live discussions with your course instructor.
What documents are required?
Required documents may include proof of certification and prerequisites. Specific requirements are listed on each course's dedicated page.
Is a transcript required?
Some courses require proof of a prerequisite qualification, which may include a transcript. Check the course's dedicated page.
4Assessment, Certification & Records
How does grading and marking work?
Courses are assessed by your instructor based on the coursework and participation requirements for that course.
How do I receive a transcript?
On successful completion, your qualification is reported to the Ontario College of Teachers. Contact the department if you need a record of your course.
How do I get a certificate of completion or a duplicate?
Certificates are issued on completion. Contact the department to request a duplicate.
What are the FSL proficiency requirements?
French as a Second Language courses require a level of French proficiency. Confirm the specific requirement on the course's dedicated page before registering.
