Introduction to Creating a Trauma Informed Approach within the Classroom, Grades K-8
This workshop will provide teachers will a deeper understanding of trauma and the effect it has on students. We will examine what a trauma informed approach looks like in a classroom and how to foster a safe learning environment for all students. We will explore ways in which trauma responses can be masked by disengagement, withdrawal, classroom outbursts, aggression, and behavioral challenges. We will explore strategies can be implemented within the classroom and school to gain a deeper understanding of students and improve student engagement, motivation, and behaviour.
