These sessions are for new to Kindergarten educators and educators who want to renew and reinvigorate their program. We will explore the relationship between the Overall and Specific Expectations and the Conceptual Understands for the four frames in the Kindergarten program. Through the lens of meaningful planning, participants will examine the research based, high yield pedagogical approaches including responsive relationships, learning through exploration, play and inquiry, educators as co-learners, environment as third teacher, pedagogical documentation and reflective practice. Ideas for both in class and remote learning environments will be shared. Participants will also examine the developmental pathway for foundational skills and knowledge in mathematics and literacy including the counting principles and phonological and phonemic awareness. Self-regulatory tools and strategies for students and teachers will also be a focus. If you are brand new to Kindergarten or would like a refresher this session will be an informative way to prepare for the coming school year.
